Do we place our hope in God, or in man?
The “church answer” is that we place our hope in God… but do we?
Ultimately the answer is yes, but all too often I would venture to say that we place our hope in man.
We hope that our package is delivered today.
We hope the we get that promotion or that raise.
We hope that our volunteers show up to serve.
When these things don’t happen, how do we react?
The theme of the Awana Ministry Conference for the last two years has been “Look Hope in the Eyes”.
In the midst of the political season, school shootings, and what we read on social media, hope can easily be lost. We can lose focus on Jesus and focus on the world around us. We can forget that we are heirs of the King
Paul encourages us in Ephesians 1:18 that, “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,”
When the world around us seems to be falling apart…. when our club night does not go as planned… when we read or see things that dishearten us…., may our eyes be enlightened to see the hope that we have in the Lord.
If we do not have that hope, then we cannot share that hope with the children God has placed in our care.
When you reach out to the children in your ministry, may they see that hope in you. May they always be looking hope in your eyes as you share the things of God with them.
