I just completed my 52nd year on this Earth and I am beginning my 53rd. Yes, I just had a birthday. There are times in life that it just seems natural to reflect on where you’ve been and where you are going.
This past year has been a year of transition for me. Last September, I left a church where I held the position of Associate Pastor of Children & Youth. While some may not understand why I left that position and church, I know that my season of ministry was over there and that God was leading me elsewhere.
During the last Awana year, I thought I would visit several Awana clubs and serve by doing large group time lessons, or something. I did not plan to be connected to a specific club for the entire year, but God had other plans. I served in one club teaching large group time and assisting my wife leading music during the large group time of one of the clubs.
Throughout the year, I visited churches (I blogged about that on my pastorbillonline.com site) and sought God for where I should serve. I was continually drawn to one church nearby. This past spring, I got connected to the church, began to teach Sunday mornings during one of the services and am preparing to be the director for the Ultimate Adventure Boys (3rd & 4th grades).
While this is not the path that I would have selected for myself, I can say, as I have before, I know that this is where God would have me serve at this time, during this season. God is also opening up an opportunity for me to reach out to youth in another area. I’m always looking for doors that God may be opening. How long this season will last here, I do not know, but I know that I am looking forward to see what God will do during this season.
I can’t tell you where this will all lead, but I can tell you that as I reflect on the past, I am thankful for the opportunities I have had and what God has done. I am now looking forward to seeing what God is going to do, and how He will use me to reach children and teach others to minister to children and youth. These are exciting times.
Lord, here am I, send me…… use me……
