Like many of the Awana missionaries, I do not personally know Wes and Jennifer. They are relatively new to the Awana mission field as full-time missionaries, but their desire to reach kids for Christ is not new. Wes was recommended to me to highlighted by a fellow Awana missionary, so I encourage you that if you know of a missionary that I should shine the spotlight on, then please let me know.
As I always do, I asked Wes some questions and below are his responses. My prayer is that this will help you get to know him, his family and ministry a little bit better:
How long have you been an Awana Missionary?
Jennifer and I have been Missionaries in New Mexico and El Paso for 1 ½ years.
What area do you serve? We serve all of New Mexico and El Paso
# of churches under your care: Currently we serve 64 churches
Fun Facts: Favorite food, favorite sport, something interesting people don’t know about you, etc…(whatever info you want to share):
We love spending time together as a family, whether we are enjoying a good Italian meal or on the road traveling. When we are not traveling we enjoy camping, hiking, bike riding, fishing, and golfing.
Why are you an Awana Missionary?
We have a strong desire to see children, youth and families come to know Christ as their Savior, grow in their love for Him and have a desire to serve. We know that a strong spiritual foundation is critical in the lives of children and in the family. It is our desire to do everything we can to come along side the local church and families to help build that foundation.
Share something God is doing in your ministry:
Since coming to New Mexico 1 ½ years ago, we have seen and heard how God is growing and expanding the Awana ministry.
What advice would you give to a local Awana Commander or Leader?
Continue to grow in your walk with the Lord. Take advantage of training opportunities to hone your skills and connect with other leaders. Get involved in local, regional and national Awana events.
How can we specifically pray for you over the next month?
Our events season kicks off – with that many will hear the Gospel and be challenged in what they believe, we will be traveling many miles over the next 3-4 months.
