I have had the privilege of meeting Randy at several regional Awana events (like the Vision Conference several years ago) as well as serving along side of him at a Fall Conference. As you get to know Randy, you will see his passion for reaching people for Christ through the Awana ministry.
As I always do, I asked Randy some questions and below are his responses. My prayer is that this will help you get to know him, his family and ministry a little bit better:
How long have you been an Awana Missionary?
10 Years
What area do you serve? New Jersey, Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland (DelMarVa)
# of churches under your care: 114
Fun Facts: Favorite food, favorite sport, something interesting people don’t know about you, etc…(whatever info you want to share):
We both love Italian foods. Randy loves golf, we both like bowling, Donna knows all kinds of handcrafts (knitting, crocheting, needlepoint). Randy does magic as a hobby sometimes using it for Bible lessons. We are also vocalists, duets or Randy does solos.
Why are you an Awana Missionary?
We’ve loved the Awana ministry since the early 80’s when we first discovered it and at the turn of the century, knew God’s call on our lives. He has grown our passion for the gospel.
Share something God is doing in your ministry:
Every club visit we go to we see at least one clubber respond to the gospel and sometimes a dozen or more. We usually see over 100 kids trust Christ in a typical club year just from our visits, not to mention what we hear from other clubs when the Spirit is working in them.
What advice would you give to a local Awana Commander or Leader?
Do one thing and do it well. If you want to work in Awana, make it your sole ministry and give it your all. Let your ministry always be with grace. Let the kids be kids and don’t expect them to be little adults. Many come from undisciplined homes and they need time to learn. Pray for your leaders often and make time to show them appreciation.
How can we specifically pray for you over the next month?
Our support is VERY low and we need more committed, regular Ministry Partners to invest with us. March will be a busy month with Summit and personal time off. Pray that God will put us in touch with people who want to invest with us.
