This week we are looking at a missionary that was suggested that I highlight. I have not yet met Jerry and his family but by his responses and the recommendation, I now that he is a man who wants to reach children for Jesus. He needs your support to do that effectively.
As I always do, I asked Jerry some questions and below are his responses. My prayer is that this will help you get to know him, his family and ministry a little bit better:
How long have you been an Awana Missionary?
Angie and I have served as the Awana missionaries for 4 ½ years
What area do you serve?
We serve all of Southern Idaho & Central & Eastern Oregon
# of churches under your care:
We get the opportunity to serve 73 churches
Fun Facts: Favorite food, favorite sport, something interesting people don’t know about you, etc…(whatever info you want to share):
We enjoy going snowmobiling in the Winter, we also spend time helping our kids in 4-H & FFA. Our kids raise sheep & pigs during the Spring & Summer months. We have fun as a family doing this. Also this past year for the first time we had baby pigs that my son raised on our place (quite the adventure).
Why are you an Awana Missionary?
We know how important it is that Gods word must be the foundation in young people’s lives. As the Awana missionaries we want to be able to come along side the leaders in the local churches so that they can make sure as many children and youth can come to know, love & serve our Lord Jesus Christ.
Share something God is doing in your ministry:
We are seeing and hearing how God is growing and strengthening the Awana ministry throughout our entire area.
What advice would you give to a local Awana Commander or Leader?
I believe our best advise is to encourage the our leaders to stay the course. We know our adversary the Devil is looking for any foot hold that he can get a hold of to weaken our effectiveness. We are not in this alone God has won the battle Proverbs 21:31
How can we specifically pray for you over the next month?
We begin to prepare for a busy event season, that we would have safety of travel but most importantly that the Gospel message would be prominent and first most in all that we do.
