Bob is known by many in his region (and elsewhere) as “Awana Bob”. He has a bubbling personality, is eager to help you with ministry as he is able and always receives positive reviews at the conferences where I have served with him and had the opportunity to read the evaluations.
Dorinda is also the commander of the Awana club at their home church. So she keeps pretty busy herself.
If you ever get a chance, be sure to say “Hi” to “Awana Bob” and Dorinda.
As I always do, I asked Bob some questions and below are his responses. My prayer is that this will help you get to know him, his family and ministry a little bit better:
How long have you been an Awana Missionary?
Dorinda and I have been serving full time since April of 1998
What area do you serve?
We serve as part of the NYPENN team of Awana missionaries serving all of the churches of NY & PA. Our primary area is Central & Eastern NY and Northeastern PA.
# of churches under your care:
There are a little over 500 churches total in the NYPENN area. We are the primary missionaries for about 170 of them.
Fun Facts: Favorite food, favorite sport, something interesting people don’t know about you, etc…(whatever info you want to share):
Dorinda and I are Steelers fans, we grew up in Western PA, and we both love to hunt.
Why are you an Awana Missionary?
Many years ago God called me to reach the lost, Awana is the best tool I have ever found to accomplish that mission, so I serve first as a missionary, and then as an Awana Missionary.
Share something God is doing in your ministry:
Our ministry has grown and continues to grow year after year adding new clubs, and reaching kids for Christ. Over the last year or two we have seen two area commanders step up to become Awana Missionaries right here in NY state.
What advice would you give to a local Awana Commander or Leader?
Always remember to look at the “Big Picture” of what God is doing. It is easy to get discouraged and quit if we only see the “problems”.
How can we specifically pray for you over the next month?
1. Please pray as we participate in the Awana Summit event and travel afterward (Summit is currently taking place as this is being posted) .
2. Please pray for many to hear & respond to the Gospel at our NYPENN AwanaGames in March.
3. Please pray for traveling safety as we drive many miles visiting churches here in our area.
