Ministry Moment – Resources for an Effective Ministry

It seems that many people view Awana like many other curriculum, you buy it and then figure out how to use it on your own. What many may not realize is that Awana provides many resources to help you use Awana effectively in your church.

In this ministry moment, we will take a look at just a few of the resources available to equip you to run your Awana ministry.

First – The Awana Missionary

We will talk more about the Awana missionary in our next ministry moment, but briefly, Awana has field personnel, called missionaries, to assist you in your local Awana ministry. While each Awana ministry is unique to the local church and their culture, they are there to answer your questions and help you in your local church context based off of their knowledge of Awana and experience of working with several churches in your area. To find your local Awana missionary, go to www.awana.org/find-us-missionary

Next, Awana offers several opportunities to learn.

Local church training by your local Awana missionary, or ministry team, to help you and your leaders and new in 2021 is the Awana Basics online. You can find this at awanabasics.awana.org. This provides you a way for your volunteers to learn about Awana on their time, within their schedule.

(NOTE: Awana Basics online is free for churches registered with Awana. Your leaders must be connected to your church in order to access this free resource using the MyAwana portal. To learn about the MyAwana portal and how to manage your leaders in this portal, visit awanabasics.awana.org, scroll to the bottom of the page, and view the tutorial videos under the Leader Resources header.)

There are also Awana Ministry Conferences across the United States as well as virtually. These are great opportunities to renew an overall vision of Awana and learn specifics to help you in your Awana ministry.

You can find out about many of these opportunities by going to events.awana.org/

And of course, Commanderbill.net is another resource to complement the many resources that Awana provides.

I hope you will take time to learn more about Awana to help you run an effective Awana ministry.
