I was recently given the opportunity to screen a new movie being released for two days in theaters in a couple of weeks entitled, Ice Dragon – Legend of the Blue Daisies.
I am very critical of movies, and other resources, which claim to present Biblical values or share the Bible in a different way. I often discredit videos I use in ministry over a mere clip of a few seconds, and will not use it. I almost did that with this video but I persevered and I am glad that I did.
The part that almost caused me to not recommend the video was near the beginning where the reference that the song is magic. It is a personal conviction that makes it difficult for me to connect the Bible with magic.
For those who know the Bible, the film shares the base theme of the Bible – the ultimate battle between good and evil – and it provides several opportunities to initiate discussion about the things of God with our children.
As my friend Karl Bastian, kidology.org, has noted, the film is a beautiful parable that opens up the things of God to children.
At the end of the movie, the film sets you up to open the Bible and share how your child can protect against the “Ice Dragon” each day.
I would highly recommend visiting their website at icedragonmovie.com to find a theater close to you to watch this on the big screen during the two day event (March 24th & 26th, 2018 only).
As a parent, you may be looking for ways to share the things of God with your child. If possible, then don’t miss this opportunity to initiate the conversation, not just for a brief time after the movie, but I believe it can be ongoing for weeks, or months, afterward.
