During the Christmas holidays in 2006, the Awana forum went ‘blank’. When you visited the web site, you simply saw a page that said ‘Service Unavailable’. I believe that it is because they want to give us, and the moderators, time to spend with our families.
This has me thinking of the importance of Christian fellowship and our availability to God. The writer of Hebrews admonishes us to fellowship, and lift, one another up: “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25, KJV)
How many of you missed the fellowship that is shared on the Awana forums? How many times a day did you check to see if it had been restored? How important is that fellowship from the Awana forums to you?
Now let me ask…how many times a day to you seek out God for that fellowship with Him?
How many times does God try to fellowship with us, or ask us to do something for Him, only to receive notice from us that our service is ‘unavailable’? Are we willing to do whatever God desires, whenever He calls, or only when it fits our schedule, or comfort level?
Let us not only seek that fellowship that has grown so dear to many via the Awana forums, but more importantly, let us not forget that fellowship with God. May He never seek us only to find that we are ‘unavailable’. May our lives truly be a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1) for Him!
