There is a song that goes, “it’s the most wonderful time of the year”. We are in the midst of the season of hope, the season of peace, and the season of love. It is a time when many of us will give gifts to those who serve with us as a way to show appreciation and in all of this celebration and appreciation, there is something lurking in the shadows that we need to keep in mind.
For many, the holiday season marks the mid-way point of the Awana year. Why is this important? Because during most projects, people get discouraged at the halfway point. In January & February, people serving in Awana can get tired of serving. Maybe you have experienced this yourself. It is one of those times when volunteers may decide if they will return the following year. That is a key reason why events like quizzing and games are scheduled for the months just after the holidays. It is a time when we need to rejuvenate ourselves and our leaders.
As we celebrate the holiday season, may we find the energy and strength to press on through the down times we may encounter as we enter the new year.
