My Hardest Challenge

January 26, 2015 by Commander Bill

Mallory and Commander Bill at CPC15 East

One of the biggest challenges that I face as a Children’s Pastor and as a children’s ministry leader is that people see children as the church of tomorrow, not an active part of the church of today.

At the Children’s Pastors Conference last week in Chattanooga, we were introduced to a young lady that is allowing God to use her in an amazing way.

When she was 11 years old, she began to do something simple for God. Now she is 14 and God is using her in ways she never imagined.

As I noted, the hardest challenge I face is people not believing that children and youth can be used by God. I really like this quote from her about the path she has taken,

God’s paths are not always smooth. I have met resistance but I have also had amazing people come along to help me grow and turn my dreams into reality. People have said I would never succeed, and asked why I wanted to help “those” people. But the answer is always simple. He calls us, no, he demands that we do.

It began as a desire to opt not to receive Christmas gifts for herself in order to help children in Uganda. Today she is running two programs in Uganda, a feeding program and an education sponsorship program serving over 350 children each day.

She is making a change in the world by being obedient to God.

If you want to see more of what she is doing, or to see how you can support her, visit her website at projectyesu.org

My question to you…. are you an obstacle to children and youth who seek to allow God to do great things through them? or do you do what you can to walk along side of them to be a part of what God is doing through them?
